National African American Parent Involvement Day - Feb. 8

Mon., Feb. 8 is National African American Parent Involvement Day. Join us for this special day! The schedule can be found at http://groveland.spps.org/especially_for_families

PTO

PTO  is Thurs., Feb. 18 at 6:00 p.m. in the library. Childcare for school age children is provided. Transportation is available by calling the main office by 10:00 a.m. on Feb. 18. Come and visit with your friends and neighbors while we plan for our students!!

Author Visit

Kwame Alexander, award winning author, will visit Groveland on Fri., Feb. 19! His recent book, The Crossover, won the 2015 Newbery Medal which recognizes the year's "most distinguished contribution to American literature for children." He has written 21 books and will also feature,"Acoustic Rooster" while he visits Groveland.

Lego Leagues

Groveland's Lego Leagues have been working hard on their projects for the year. Two of our Lego Teams will go on to the State Tournaments on Sat., Feb. 20 at Washington Technology. Congratulations to all the teams for their great efforts this year!

Apex Fun Run - Feb. 16-25

The Apex Fun Run is a 2-week fundraiser promoting fitness and leadership.  A team of athletes will be at our school for the full length of the program to work with students, raise pledges, and volunteer in classrooms. The program culminates with a huge Fun Run event for all the students and their families in the school gym. This is our major fundraising event of the winter/spring. Join us in raising funds for student enrichment programs and a major library book overhaul!

African and African American Affinity Family Group

The African and African American Family Group will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 24 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Childcare is available for schoolage children (PreK-Gr. 5). Please bring store purchased items of food to share for dinner. The group will also meet on the following Wednesdays: Feb. 24, Mar. 23, Apr. 20 and May 18.

Welcome to Groveland! Students have exciting learning opportunities all year. In addition to science, math, literature, physical education and music, students have a fine arts enrichment each year. The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra CONNECT Program, art classes and theater residencies are some of the ways students are involved in the arts. Students may take band, Spanish, Lego League, Destination Imagination or other classes before or after school.
