~ Thomas Huxley (1825-1895)
My name is Sue Vang but Groveland's young scientists call me Ms. Vang. This is my third year of teaching, of which 2 1/2 years have been at Groveland.
I enjoy teaching children because they crave learning and come with curious minds.
Science is a great opportunity to open doors to young and curious minds. In Science, students are engaged because they are observing, thinking and exploring. My goal is to set up 100% inquiry-based learning in science. I believe that learning through inquiry empowers students with the skills and knowledge to become independent, lifelong learners. I allow students to discover their own learning by planning and conducting their own investigations and providing them appropriate tools and techniques to gather information.
This year I am working on sharpening student's thinking by reinforcing "Accountable Talk". I do this by guiding students to use language that is appropriate to the subject of science.
Thank you for taking the time to visit Groveland's website!
