The Week in Review:
Our first two days of school have gone very well!  All of the kids are friendly and helpful with each other.  I have even seen a few kids stop to help another student, or check on someone who is hurt on the playground.  This is great to see so early in the year!

The kids in our class have learned many of the routines that we have at school, such as getting ready for lunch, listening quietly when an adult is speaking, and finding their spot at the table.  We will continue to practice all of these rituals and routines for the first few weeks, until they become second nature.  We also took a tour of the school and practiced what we would do in a fire drill.  It’s been a busy week, and your child will likely be very tired.

Thank you to all of the families who were able to attend the Kindergarten Playdate and our Kindergarten conferences.  It really helps me get to know the kids a bit before school starts and lets me know more about your family as well.

Also, a big THANK YOU to everyone who brought school supplies in for our classroom.  The kids have already learn about several of the “tools” that we use in Kindergarten, including crayons, colored pencils, scissors and a glue stick!

Generally, our newsletters will include information on the previous week, as well as upcoming events to be aware of.  Please make sure to read it each week so that you’ll know what’s happening in our classroom.  You can also find an online version of this newsletter on the class’s website.  You’ll need to go to www.groveland.spps.org, then click on Classrooms, then Kindergarten, then Mrs. Sundberg’s Class.

Thanks again for helping your child on their first few days of school, it really means a lot to them (and me!).

Have a great weekend!
