Vocabulary

Buoyancy:	The capacity to remain afloat in a liquid.
Fluorescence:	When something gives off light after being exposed to X-rays or ultraviolet rays of light.
Fossil:	A remnant, impression, or trace of life that has been preserved in the rock of the crust of the earth.
Igneous rock:	A rock formed by the cooling of magma or lava.
Luster:	The soft reflection of light, making something look a bit shiny.
Metamorphic rock:	The process of a rock changing due to extreme heat and pressure, creating a new rock.
Mineral:	A naturally-occurring substance with a particular composition and structure.
Sedimentary rock:	A rock formed by cementation of sediment (sand, silt, clay etc.), plant or animal remains, or by solidifying from a solution.
