Meeting commenced at 5:20.  The agenda and minutes were approved.

Principal Search:  Dr. Jobe is retiring next fall requiring Groveland to conduct a new principal search.

Teresa Rogers, Kate Wilcox Harris are the school district  HR contacts.  There are 7 current principal openings.  The application deadline is April 30th.  The process involves some prior screening by HR and then resumes are sent to schools.

The evenings of May 16 and May 17 are set aside for site interviews.  Selected applicants will be y the Superintendent during the week of May 21st.  Last time we submitted our top three choices in no particular order.  Email Jody and Craig if you’re interested in being involved in the selection process.

Principal’s Report

Budget:  We will be the site for Language Academy Plus next year.  Cleva wants our enrollment projection to include the new 58 Academy Plus kids (Cleva thinks 38 is more likely).  The budget is due May 5 along with the SCIP which is later than in other years.  We may need to add a site council meeting before the 5th – perhaps May 1 or 3.  Each student will generate $2515 next year.

Testing is going on this week.  Thanks to Paul Nelson with all his help with the online testing this week.

Marketing Committee:  Has been meeting and identified some goals, tasks and resources.  We will be making a new DVD and the marketing materials for preschools will also be updated.  The committee will be working on content for that.  Groveland needs a new mission statement.  Alice Lightener has been heading up this committee and is doing a great job and has great energy and new ideas.  The goals include updating and refining website content, video streaming of the marketing DVD and photo managing on the web.  Parent and graphic artist Tiffany Wortmann has offered to create a set of common images to be used on the web and signage (and possibly on future spirit wear).   We are doing a “meet and greet” at Coffee Bene so Groveland parents can informally chat with prospective parents.  The hope is that the structure that we create can be carried forward.

Mission Statement:  There is a need to update the current statement.  Staff brainstormed and narrowed it down to four possible statements that were circulated by email to site council members before this meeting.  Words that were mentioned:  lifelong learning, stable, educates, small/intimate community, whole child, safe, challenge, leaders of tomorrow, global, confident, engaging, nurturing, diverse.

Site council voted to recommend this statement:

GPE is a small, nurturing community that challenges and supports every child.

Jody will bring this back to the staff.

Celebrate Groveland:  April 28th.  Staff received complimentary tickets but are asked to pay for their guests.  Vietnamese, Hmong and Chinese Food will be served.  There is a great need for volunteers.  We are still looking for donations.  Call Kris Hageman or Chris Church.  Silent auction booklet will be sent home with students prior to the event.

Meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
