Mrs. Eggert
Welcome to Room 2102.  As some of you may know, this is my second year teaching a straight second grade after 8 years of teaching in a multiage classroom.  This does not change my basic approach to children and teaching.  The focus is on the child before the curriculum.  I try to teach to a variety of ability levels.   A theme will be chosen about once a month (usually a science topic) and learning experiences in all subjects will relate

to the theme as much as possible.  I choose activities that are appropriate for this specific group of children and the current topic and try to arrange them into a daily "flow" - balancing active with quiet activities, teacher-directed with student-directed activities, whole group with small and independent work.  All this takes place within an atmosphere of community and connectedness, feeling valued and valuing others. I look forward to a great year.

Daily Schedule
Our learning is more integrated than the schedule might suggest.  Reading and writing are part of every area.  You can't do science without math.  And activities might change depending on our topic and our energy level.
